10+ years owning the organic number. Lead discipline: Answer Engine Optimization — the AI-answer layer across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini & Google AI Overviews.

At Manychat: organic from 22% → 47% of company revenue, a global team across three countries, and a measurement system the board gets briefed on.

I build the team, the system, and the number.

Open to new opportunities — remote or Austin.

📝about_me.txt - Notepad ♡

I was an only child in Florida, and my first best friend was a computer.

The other kids were out there somewhere. I was in front of a screen — and behind the screen was everyone. The internet was the one place I wasn't alone. So when a ninth-grade web design class showed me that the words I typed could become a place other people could stand in, that was it. I've been pulling on that thread for twenty years.

College handed me a second obsession: music. I threw shows and chased the exact moment a room full of strangers loses it to the same song. Then I graduated, took a corporate job at Bank of America, and found out what my life looked like with both loves removed. (It looked like fluorescent lighting.)

The way back in was a music zine nobody read. To change "nobody," I had to learn how being found actually works — and that's how SEO got me. Not as a career. As a lifeline that turned out to be a puzzle I couldn't put down. The zine grew into press passes and a staff of writers. That led to running social for a music channel three million people followed. When it ended, I was 26, shooting NGHTMRE, SLANDER, and TOKiMONSTA from the wings while the bass came up through the floor.

Photography didn't pay rent. SEO did — and it took me a decade to see what that actually meant: I never gave anything up. People treat search like the coldest corner of marketing, where the soul goes to die. Look closer. It's the puzzle from ninth grade. It's the stage from the shows. It's an image you build so people can find their way to it. The traffic number is just applause you can graph.

I've spent ten years being the person who owns that number — as a department of one, as the builder of 20-person teams, and now leading SEO and AI search globally, where organic grew from 22% to 47% of company revenue on my watch and the board gets briefed on how machines talk about us.

Here's why the timing matters. I've watched the internet reorganize who-gets-found three times: portals to search, search to social, and now search to answers. Most of the industry is still grieving the old game. I'm on the record — in board decks, published frameworks, and one extremely handsome Google AI Overview — playing the new one. Because I recognize this moment: it's the machine that kept a lonely kid company, learning to talk back.

I really do love my computer.

Summary

Organic growth leader with 10+ years owning the traffic number in every role. Lead discipline: Answer Engine / Generative Engine Optimization — winning the AI-answer layer across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. At Manychat, grew organic search from 22% to 47% of company revenue and AI answer-engine mention rate from 53% to 87% in eight months, backed by a 600-prompt share-of-voice system, a proprietary AI attribution methodology, and an in-house real-retrieval AI-visibility measurement platform built after auditing commercial vendor tooling. Deep technical SEO, AI-native content operations, and a track record of turning proprietary data into content that earns links and citations. Builds functions from zero — 20+ career hires, teams scaled from one to twenty — leads globally distributed in-house teams, and authors the organic strategy and data briefed at board level monthly.

Experience

Global Head of AEO & SEOManychatFeb 2025 – Present
  • Built an in-house, real-retrieval AI-visibility measurement platform after auditing commercial AEO vendor methodology: a 46-prompt × 5-market × 7-persona grid (1,610 answers per run) against live model APIs, capturing background search queries, citations, competitor mentions, and sentiment — multilingual (EN/PT/ES), automated weekly — replacing ~$100K/yr of vendor tooling.
  • Own SEO and AEO/GEO as one organic system; report to the CMO and lead an all-in-house global team (US, Spain, Brazil) on a ~$1M fully loaded budget — eight-figure organic ARR influence, zero agency or contractor spend.
  • Grew organic search from 22% to 47% of company revenue; organic traffic +37% YoY.
  • Grew AI answer-engine mention rate from 53% to 87% in eight months via a 600-prompt share-of-voice system (commercial tooling — since audited and replaced by the in-house platform above).
  • Developed a proprietary AI attribution methodology tying AEO visibility to signups and revenue.
  • Led a reset of ~1,400 articles (pruned ~700, rebuilt architecture) with Engineering and Design.
  • Off-property entity and digital-PR work; diagnosed and resolved a Reddit domain-visibility issue rooted in UGC architecture. Author the board-level organic narrative — strategy, decks, and data presented monthly and ad hoc.
Senior SEOManychatJun 2024 – Feb 2025
  • Built the systems that became the company-wide SEO/AI-search program — refresh pipeline, internal-linking, keyword monitoring at ~130K scale, exec reporting. Promoted to Global Head in eight months.

Digital PR is my party trick: turn proprietary data into stories newsrooms can't ignore. 5,000+ media placements across my career — here's a selection I'm proud of.

The Music & Drugs Study

the one I'm proudest of
A data study on how music taste maps to drug use. It ran on page 2 of the Sunday Washington Post Magazine and was picked up by Newsweek — the kind of placement most digital-PR careers never touch.

A viral-study engine for a national drug-rehab brand

2016–2017
The music study was one of many. I ran a whole program of data-driven studies mining real behavior, slang, and public records — each built around a hook a newsroom couldn't pass up. Hundreds of pickups; a handful I still remember:
…and many more I've genuinely lost count of.

The ACL Fecal-Matter Study

2019 · LawnStarter
We tested the grounds of Austin City Limits for what a few hundred thousand festival-goers leave behind. The E. coli numbers wrote their own headlines and traveled nationally.

“Most Handsome Man in Austin” — an AI Overview experiment

2026 · Manychat
To show how AI search surfaces and cites brands, I seeded a claim into the ecosystem and watched Google's AI Overview repeat it back. A stunt with a serious point about how AEO/GEO actually works.
AI Overviewengineered a Google AI Overview citation + press pickup

Not every story is a viral study — I also run the buttoned-up corporate side: launches, funding rounds, and milestone announcements that land clean.

What people say about Logan Freedman

A very clever content pro I used to work with. Logan shares tactical approaches for optimizing content for LLMs — how brand mentions are now more powerful than backlinks, why traditional SEO tools fall short for GEO, and how Logan approaches measurement when attribution is nearly impossible.
— Pavel Sokolovsky, CMO of NutriSense
Logan excels at seeing problems clearly, which is his great secret when it comes to solving them. In a world where no one wants to take on the work to fix something complex, Logan stands up and says “I will.” And he does — even if he has to invent a solution where none existed before. He’s tough, he’s smart, and he’s creative. If you’re facing down the next novel problem, be it in a foreign airport or a conference room, he’s the person you want.
— Caroline Brewton, Content Strategist at Manychat
Logan is, by nature, a challenger of the status quo. He’ll bring a lot of good ideas to replace what this questioning initially blew up. Not a lot of people can do that so well. He’s an idea machine and he’s been a real pleasure to work with.
— Nick Gaudio, worked with Logan on the same team
His ability to think outside the box has led to some of the most successful video campaigns I’ve ever participated in. He has always been a top performer. He is a valuable asset to any team and I highly recommend him.
— Tyler Cowan-Sanges, video producer (Logan was his client)
Logan — thanks for your help. (Sent after Logan’s music-and-drugs data study ran on page 2 of the Sunday Washington Post Magazine.)
— Elizabeth Chang, The Washington Post

The day Reddit banned the whole domain

manychat.com links were quietly banned across Reddit — one of the discovery surfaces AI models lean on hardest. Logan traced the abuse reports to user-generated content on a product subdomain: spam flowing from my.manychat.com had poisoned the reputation of the root domain, because platforms judge reputation at the domain level. The fix was architectural, not moderation: isolate UGC on a separate domain so user behavior can never take the brand down with it. Technical SEO is knowing which invisible system just decided you don’t exist — and being able to prove why.

Engineering a Google AI Overview (on purpose)

To prove the AI-answer layer can be influenced end-to-end, Logan seeded a claim — “the most handsome man in Austin” — through press distribution and entity corroboration, then watched Google’s AI Overview repeat it as fact, with pickup in The Tennessean. The point: citation-worthiness is constructible. Consistent claims across crawlable, credible-enough surfaces become answers. Applied to claims a brand deserves to own, this is the AEO playbook.

Attribution when nobody clicks

AI answers create influence without clicks, blinding the classic analytics stack. Logan measures in layers: (1) a 600-prompt share-of-voice system tracking brand mention rate across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews daily — 53% to 87% in eight months; (2) “AI Search” separated as its own post-purchase survey attribution source, turning anecdote into a trend line tied to signups; (3) a Search Console misspelling-divergence method — people who discover a brand through AI type it the way the AI spelled it, so divergence between clean and misspelled branded queries becomes a proxy for AI-driven discovery. When the channel hides the click, measure the echoes.

The vendor data was synthetic, so I built the real thing

Logan audited commercial AI-visibility tools by pulling raw API responses: the live-retrieval flag was false on 100% of 4,132+ audited answers, per-country data correlated at 0.998 (no real geography), and persona prompts contained the brand name — inflating persona mention rates to 62–83% vs a 25% clean baseline. He replaced the tooling with a real-retrieval measurement platform: 46 prompts × 5 country/language views × 7 clean personas (1,610 answers per run) against live model APIs, logging background searches, citations, brands, and sentiment — multilingual, automated weekly.
